When sexy ad worked for Airtel Kenya
World over, it is agreed that for a brand to appeal to an audience its advertising crew must strive to deliver super creative, crazy effective ad displays.
According to Wordstream.com, one of the most effective tricks is to get one’s mind in the gutter – going for sexy ads.
“We’ve all heard it—sex sells. In fact, invoking sexual innuendo is one of the strongest and most effective marketing tactics. Of course, this tactic is nothing new. We can track it all the way back to 1871, when Pearl Tobacco began printing naked maidens on their packaging, leading to an abrupt uptick in sales. Fellow marketers took note and the strategy spread like…wildfire,” it advises.
This is the trick that struggling telecommunications company, Airtel Kenya, recently went for and they were spot on.
After this advert emerged, Team Mafisi or Mafisi Sacco, which marked its one year anniversary early this month could not help but to get hooked.
These are some of the memes posted on its Twitter handle last month:
It all started when a guy called Solomon Kababu started flirting with Carol, who was handling Airtel Kenya’s Twitter handle and she ended up following him, which is rare for corporates unless there is a specific issue they want to discuss in private. Team Mafisi could not agree to be left behind.
Airtel Kenya also have a male social media Customer care agent and goes by the name Jamlick or rather Jamo.
But as the photo above shows, Mafisi Sacco have no time for him.
